Garden Design in Caversham

Garden design in Caversham from Stephen Anthony Developments. Planning and building gardens that suit how you use the space, with the paving, borders, lighting and planting all set out before work begins.

Planning a Garden That Works

Good garden design starts with questions rather than plants. Where does the sun fall in the afternoon, where will people sit, is there space for children or a dog, and how much upkeep do you actually want. The layout comes from the answers.

More Information

Paving, Borders, Planting and Lighting

Hard surfaces set the shape of a garden and the planting softens it. Lighting decides whether you use the space after dark. Power for lights and sockets is best run before the paving goes down, so it is planned in from the start.

Low Maintenance Gardens

A low upkeep garden is not a paved one. It comes from choosing plants that suit the soil and light, using deep borders rather than fussy narrow ones, and building edges that stop grass and gravel migrating. It stays looking planned with far less work.

About us

Garden design lets us bring the building side and the outside space together, which matters when a garden has to work around an extension or a new build. We design the layout and then build it ourselves, so nothing gets lost between the drawing and the finished job.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does garden design cost in Caversham?

It depends on the size of the garden and how much hard landscaping is involved. Paving, walls and drainage carry most of the cost, planting far less. We look at the space, talk about how you want to use it, then price the design and the build separately.

How long does it take to design and build a garden?

Design usually takes two to three weeks including revisions. The build depends on scope, from around two weeks for a simple layout to six or more where there are retaining walls, steps and lighting. Planting is best timed for autumn or spring.

Can you work with a garden designer I have already used?

Yes. If you have a design you like, we will build to it. We will read the plan first and flag anything that will be awkward or expensive to construct, particularly around levels and drainage, so it can be adjusted before the work starts.
